Aelaf Worku MD is the Chief Medical Officer for ATRIO Health, one of the Nation\'s fast growing regional Medicare Advantage (MA) Plans.Prior to ATRIO, Dr. Worku spent eight years at Elevance Health’s Carelon Primary Care (formerly CareMore Health) as a National Acute Care Director and as a Regional Health Officer and overseeing several Medicare Advantage and Managed Medicaid markets. He also completed a post-doctoral fellowship at the University of Chicago Medical Center (UCMC) focused upon clinical operations while also working as a Hospitalist Attending physician. Separately, he was recognized by the US State Department as a Health Ambassador for his work advising the Ethiopian Federal Ministry of Health on its efforts to increase its national physician capacity and hospital care quality. Dr. Worku trained in internal medicine at The Mount Sinai Hospital, received his MD from The Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai Hospital. He is a trained Internal Medicine physician with fifteen years of clinical experience as a practicing primary care physician and hospitalist. He graduated from Harvard College with a degree in economics.
