ABOUT ADRINEH D.

I’m a communications professional with 15+ years’ experience in writing, editing, and translation. I’ve worked mostly in the non-profit space and academia but also have experience in research and online media. I’ve taught English at the American University of Armenia, managed the production process of print materials for a legal advocacy organization, translated a report on human rights violations of LGBTQ+ people in Armenia, researched factors affecting media trust, and developed a grassroots campaign to raise awareness on domestic violence. I have many interests, but the core of what I do is communicate: I help people and organizations distill their thoughts and ideas into language that’s accessible for their audience, adapting the message for various products and platforms. Based in Canada, where I’ve spent most of my working life, I’ve also lived in Amsterdam, Brussels, Dublin, and Yerevan (Armenia). I’m always open to new adventures, and my work experience reflects this. My writing has appeared on The National Geographic blog, in a special issue of Words Without Borders (translation), and at Media.am. I’ve written blog posts for BoldFace (the official blog of Editors Toronto) and Caucasus Research Resource Center – Armenia; donation appeals and fundraising campaign copy for TVO; and op-eds and news releases for the HIV Legal Network and the Institute for Canadian Citizenship. I’ve taken courses and learned from great instructors at York University (psychology), George Brown College (editing), Vrije Universiteit Brussel (communications), and the Toronto Metropolitan University (publishing). I’m open to collaborating on projects involving writing, editing, and research—anything that involves the written word. I want to help you or your organization tell your story better and get it out in the world.
