Experience

  1. Vice President, Community Impact

    American Heart Association

Jun 2024 — Present · Boston, MA, US

By partnering with healthcare and community-based organizations, I bring tools and resources to people working on the ground to improve their community\'s cardiovascular health. With a goal of reaching everyone, everywhere, I work in most areas of MA, from urban to rural. Examples of this work include- Setting up blood pressure stations for people to self-monitor in libraries, community centers, councils on aging, and other public use spaces- Providing capacity funds to food programs to expand perishable item distribution; co-creating organization-specific nutrition policies- Expanding Nation of Lifesaver work by educating people in Hands-Only CPR, providing funding to organizations for Automated External Defibrillators (AED) and CPR Heartsaver certifications, and co-creating Cardiac Emergency Response Plans (CERP)- Partnering with healthcare entities to implement clinical quality improvement activities around hypertension, type 2 diabetes, and/or cholesterol management. Organizations participating in the hypertension initiative may also receive blood pressure cuffs to loan to patients who may not be able to access them otherwise- Collaborate with the advocacy team to build relationships with city- and state-level elected officials and agencies to expand access to lifesaving resources with the goal of making Boston the most heart-safe city in the country.
