As chairperson, I have helped lead the board to create our first community plan driven by the needs of our community. This plan is fundamental in aligning investment in our rohe with the council\'s long-term plan agenda/budgets. It has been insightful learning and observing the way local government works, the dynamics and tensions between council and councillors and how nuanced and complex running a council is!So far in this triennium, the board has achieved the following- Foster a valuable and rewarding partnership with Puektapu Hapu- Approval of a Spatial Plan for Bell Block, which kicks off in early 25, it is a year-long complex piece of work that includes all the stakeholders and takes a 30-50-year holistic look at what the community needs now and in the future- Improved safety and considerations for pedestrians and school routes- Absolute focus on resolving roading challenges and getting the right investment and planning aligned to resolve them- Enhanced investment in water stations, access and facilities at our playgrounds, BBQ area at the Bell Block Beach and so much more through careful use of our yearly discretionary fund.
