Responsible for providing and ensuring a safe environmental workplace for 180+ staff members within 7 research labs and overseeing departmental research operations.As a member of the Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committee, work with selective staff and students within the institution to review, establish and evaluate current and future safety procedural protocols for the research institution.Oversee departmental asset planning, implementation procurement, maintenance, management and operations by developing cost recovery plans, negotiating service contracts, liaising with vendors and manufacturers, and establishing standard operating protocols (SOPs) for capital asset usage. Create business operation resilience through a proactive approach by performing operational risk assessment, mitigation and planning, lab profiling of operations, asset management, and business continuity planning.Led the business continuity operations during the COVID-19 pandemic from 20••••23. Working under the operational framework provided by executive leadership, responsible for the development, planning, implementation and creation of new operational SOP. This included creating guidelines and operations assessment during the shutdown of operations, overseeing the COVID team throughout the shutdown to maintain operations of critical assets housing irreplaceable samples, creating return-to-work department policies, and communicating, modifying and updating pandemic policies based on PHAC assessment and requirements.Represent the dept as a member of the Space Committee. Working with other department executives and institute leadership, committee members are responsible for reviewing, planning, and developing space usage framework/guideline for the institutional spaces, as well as, overseeing space allocation, space request, and space assignment for the building. In addition, responsible for designing the departmental office space renovation.
