ABOUT ADRIANN BRODETH

I am currently a 4th Year Bioengineering Transfer Student at UCLA. This past year, I have been heavily involved in conducting research for the Kamariza Lab at UCLA Department of Bioengineering. My current focus is developing a rapid drug susceptibility assay for first-line drugs against Mycobacterium Tuberculosis (Mtb) using novel solvatochromic probes. Additionally, I am involved in a capstone project focusing on developing methods for high-throughput microscopy-based phenotypic assay for Mtb. I am also involved in the Biomedical Engineering Society (BMES) at UCLA where I currently work as the Community Outreach Chair. We aim to give the knowledge that we learned to the next generation of scientists and engineers by hosting workshops and events geared towards students from underpriveleged communities. My current research interests include developing medical diagnostics, especially at point-of-care settings, and developing novel therapeutics. I am continuously looking to improve my technical skills as an engineer while also growing as a kind and respectful person.
