About Adrian Gallo
Hello! I’m currently working out of the Boise office for the Idaho Conservation League where my small team is working on accelerating Idaho\'s renewable energy transition. This requires meeting with folks in the climate, energy, transportation, agriculture, and business spaces to push us in the right direction. It\'s a combination of science communication, energy policy, movement building, and community engagement to get renewables built - and built fast. However, this buildout does not come without tradeoffs, and threading the needle of rapid electrification through an environmental justice lens is easier said than done. But here we are, trying to do exactly that.Prior to my work in Idaho, I received my PhD in terrestrial biogeochemistry researching how climate change is affecting ecosystems like deserts, grasslands, forests, permafrost regions and agricultural systems. I also have a Masters degree focusing on long-term productivity of forests across the Pacific Northwest. Throughout my graduate work, I spent six years producing a science communication radio show that afforded me a deep understanding of the many climate issues and social dilemmas scientists are trying to solve.During my research days, my ecology-focused colleagues and I felt much more like very precise, real-time environmental destruction journalists. Our research sites were changing too fast for us to measure. Whether it was sea turtle survival rates from a warming climate, drought effects on tree species, or air quality impacts from historic (but not unprecedented) wildfires in the West. Through these experiences I have a desire, if not an obligation, to help society understand the real costs of our fossil fuel economy and to help shape a healthier and more equitable world for all of usPlease reach out with any q••••••••@idahoconservation.orgCheers,~Adrian

Climate Program Manager
Aug 2023 — Present · Boise, ID, US
We are Idaho\'s leading voice for conservation, focused on protecting the air you breathe, the water we drink, and the outdoor spaces we love. As the Climate Program Manager, I have the long-term goal of making Idaho carbon neutral. It will be a long road, but we\'re focusing our efforts on agriculture practices, transportation infrastructure, and the build out and connection of renewable energy resources.
