Independent Thesis on Cognitive and Motor Development in Infancy- Thesis Topic: Impact of poor postural control in the form of falling on Infant cognition- Utilized data from the summer internship at CSI from the Reach ET task to further my studies and conduct this thesis- Determined, selected, refined, and pursued a research question in the field of cognitive psychology- Created data codes for falls in both a decision-making (reaching task) and an attention (focused attention) task and analyzed how falling related to success in each task, and their Gross Motor Function Measure score- Utilized SPSS to conduct preliminary statistical data analyses- Will propose thesis in the fall and defend findings in the spring.

ABOUT ADRIANA VERGONA
Hi, I\'m Adriana Vergona, a CUNY Graduate Center doctoral student (and Lafayette College alumni) enrolled in the Cognitive and Comparative Psychology Program to pursue my passion for understanding the intricacies of the human mind. I graduated in May 2025 from Lafayette earning a Dual Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology and Philosophy, prompting my interests in the mysteries of cognition, behavior, and the fundamental questions that shape our understanding of existence.Throughout my academic journey, I\'ve had the privilege of maintaining a consistent presence on the Dean\'s List, which is a testament to the pursuit of knowledge and academic perseverance. This commitment extends into my focus on psychological research, which have allowed me to focus on my specific interests and learn through a hands-on approach. Additionally, I have always been deeply committed to fostering a vibrant and inclusive community, which is a major reason why I chose CUNY, a hub of activism. In my undergraduate career, I started a student interest group called Fraternity and Sorority Life Ally, which promotes inclusivity and advocacy for members of the LGBTQ+community in Greek Life. I also held DEI positions in Delta Gamma\'s Epsilon Xi chapter and Lafayette\'s Panhellenic Council, as well as membership in Lafayette for Reproductive Autonomy, Justice, and Empowerment. I am also highly creative individual with artistic abilities such as mixed media design, graphic design, video editing/simple animation, painting, drawing, and makeup artistry.
