ABOUT ADRIAN SURI

I have acquired a broad range of different work experience specialising in the area of education and social care. As a teacher and lecturer I have worked in a variety of different environments, I have considerable experience working in Secondary/Further Education and Sixth form colleges, both in England, as well as in Sweden, where I worked in two different schools. At Rödabergsskolan (school), Stockholm. A school with an “international profile”, where I worked as a general classroom teacher for one year, whilst also at Engelskaskolan, Söder, Stockholm, an international ”free school”, where I taught as a general teacher, as well as teaching I.C.T. To students in their Sixth form.Having studied Sociology up to MA level, gives me a broad and deep understanding of my subject, and having the experience of working overseas in schools, has also enhanced my range of possible teaching methods, particularly in teaching concepts and ideas to student who\'s first native language, was other than English,(which was the language they were being taught in.). Most schools and colleges I have taught have focus to adapt to a multi-cultural environment and address the requirements of working in cultural diverse areas as well as address the need to show empathy and respect for the multi-cultural aspects in Education. I believe myself to be honest, reliable and flexible in my outlook to work as well as life. I am an active team player and also have the ability to work independently drawing from my own initiatives. Prior to the above experiences I lived and worked in Sweden for a number of years employed as a general teacher and successfully headed up a team implementing Koha, an open source Library and Information system. This entailed using specialised skills for installing and configuring a Linux server with an Apache server using PHP, adapting this work work within a windows based environment.
