ABOUT ADRIAN BLOTNER

The multi-disciplinary treatment protocol I have developed over a number of years has been proven to be highly effective for mood, anxiety, sleep, and chronic pain disorders. And this treatment protocol is effective without the use of opiates. Rather this approach recognizes that these are complex issues requiring a systems approach. I came to understand this systems approach through my multi-disciplinary education & training. My medical, neurologic, and psychiatric training included medical school at LSU (in New Orleans), and externship at Massachusetts General Hospital / Harvard Medical School, and Internship / Psychiatric Residency at the Ochsner Clinic. Throughout my training years, I became increasingly passionate to learn everything I could about the central nervous system – the brain and spinal cord – and its impact on the functioning of every part of the body. When I started in Private Practice in Psychiatry I started treating “Stress-related Physical Disorders” using a multi-disciplinary “bio-psycho-social” treatment model. As a physician who is board certified in both Pain Medicine and Psychiatry, the medical research that I follow has increasingly shown the effectiveness of the multi-disciplinary “bio-psycho-social” treatment model to treat complex, chronic illnesses that involve biological, physical, emotional, and behavioral elements - such as chronic pain. The key achieving the best possible treatment outcome is the unique and carefully selected combination of treatments, based on the particular needs of each individual patient. The multi-disciplinary “bio-psycho-social” treatment protocol that I’ve developed addresses biological, physical, emotional, and behavioral aspects of an individual’s suffering as well as impairments. I lead a multi-disciplinary team of treatment providers who focus on carefully selected treatments that contribute to improved treatment outcomes in areas of that are most important to each individual patient. Important treatment outcomes include reductions of physical pain, physical impairment, emotional suffering, and impaired functioning in important life roles – such as parent, spouse, social, occupational, and leisure areas of functioning.
