ABOUT ADRIAAN VAN KLINKEN
I\'m an academic with expertise in religion as it intersects with public life in contemporary African contexts and in relation to issues of gender, sexuality, ecology and social change.I am passionate about my subject and research, care about student education and early career mentorship, and am committed to equality, diversity and inclusion in my pedagogy, research practices, and management roles.Among my key publications are the monographs Decolonizing Christianities in Contemporary Nigerian Literature (Penn State University Press, 2025), Kenyan, Christian, Queer: Religion, LGBT Activism, and Arts of Resistance in Africa (Penn State University Press, 2019), and Transforming Masculinities in African Christianity (Routledge, 2013).Over the years, I have developed academic leadership experience, such as in my prevous roles of Director of the Leeds University Centre for African Studies and the Centre for Religion and Public Life, and in my current role as Deputy Head of School.
