ABOUT ADON SIJO
I view science not merely as a field of study, but as a discipline of exploration, integration, and responsibility. As a second-year BSc (Hons) Biomedical Science student at the University of Northampton, I maintain a consistent First Class Honours standing with a predicted final grade of 85%. My academic foundation is anchored by a record-breaking 95/100 in Cellular Pathology ranking first in my cohort and representing one of the highest marks ever awarded at the institutional level. Beyond the classroom, I am a co-author of a forthcoming publication in the Journal of Intensive Care (July 2026), where I have contributed to the critical analysis of sepsis-associated biomarkers and inflammatory cytokines within clinical diagnostic frameworks.My current research centers on a dissertation investigating M2c-like macrophage phenotypes and their response to procalcitonin (PCT). I specialize in bridging the gap between traditional wet-lab experimentation utilizing THP-1 cell culturing and flow cytometry and advanced computational biophysics. By integrating molecular dynamics tools such as AlphaFold and GROMACS with gene expression analysis in RStudio, I aim to explore inflammatory regulation from a translational perspective.Alongside my research, I serve as a Peer-Assisted Learning (PAL) Leader, delivering undergraduate teaching in Chemistry and Immunology. I am notably the first second-year student in my programme’s history to be entrusted with formal teaching responsibilities. Selected as the university’s sole \"Student Icon\" for the Faculty of Life Sciences, I also leverage my platform as a Student Influencer to bridge high-impact research with public engagement. My long-term goal is to pursue doctoral research that utilizes systems-level analysis to advance translational diagnostics and immune-informed healthcare.
