   Rajshree Sugars & Chemicals Limited (RSCL) has interests in integrated fields of Sugar, Agriculture, Distillery, Power & Biotechnology. The company has a capacity to produce MT of sugar, 280 million units of green power and 36 million litres of Ethanol/Alcohol per annum. RSCL has a DSIR recognised, state of the art research and development facility with extension teams. Collaborations with national level institutes like ICAR Sugarcane Breeding Institute, Sugarcane research stations of TN Agricultural University and Vasantdada Sugar Institute Pune, have given the firm opportunities for knowledge sharing and created the right ecosystem for collective research advancements. Some of the key aspects of the R&D facilities and efforts are: • Identification and development of new high yielding and high-quality varieties of cane. • Research on cost reduction technologies that benefit both the farmers and the factory• An advanced Tissue Culture Lab for production of disease-free seed material • Soil lab for water and soil analysis helps in prescribing the right methodologies and inputs to the farmers• Development of Eco-friendly pest management methods, mass productions and supply of pheromone traps, bio control agents through in-house and farmer entrepreneur labs. The R&D efforts are implemented with the help of field extension teams within the company that are active in training farmers on best practices and ensuring adoption of new technologies for yield and quality enhancements. They also promote and assist farmers in installation of drip fertigation as a part of water conservation and yield improvement efforts. These teams also educate and assist the farmers in improving soil fertility by promoting trash shredding, inter cropping along with the supply of organic manure and bio fertilizers. They also help form farmer societies and encourage farmer entrepreneurs to boost mechanization.
