About Aditya Nair

I love building things, primarily robots. I\'ve also recently found control theory and I find the math behind it beautiful. Robotics has fascinated me for a long time, and so have multiple other things. However, I inevitably found myself exploring something loosely related to it. My dear friend Akshat Sahay gifted me an Arduino kit for my birthday (since he realized my love for this even before I did) which I didn\'t open for almost a year, being busy with my freshman year of college until COVID happened. After I finally opened it, I spent the next 6 months learning about electronics, writing code for robots and building all kinds of little projects. Incidentally, at this stage, I had a firm understanding of the basics of engineering and the experience of actualizing my passion towards mechanics, math, electronics, programming and even biology somehow. Therefore, it felt like the perfect time for me commit to robotics seriously and not let this remain another hobby. I couldn\'t see myself ever getting bored of this. I spent the next few years trying my best to explore every nook and cranny of this field, prioritizing developing an understanding of why stuff is a certain way by trying to do it every other way. In this journey I was involved in all sorts of things like: learning Fusion 360 in one night to get an internship with a famous YouTuber, or cribbing about ML and all it\'s infinitely incompatible dependencies; from starting and finishing a course on autonomous mobile robots during my finals week, to learning how to sew electronics onto clothes; from making a bot that marked my attendance so I could sleep longer, to doing free research for an organization that broke into my room. I had seen a lot. Many such adventures and 6 multimeters later I developed a tempered grasp of many varied topics like CAD, neural networks, web-scraping, kinematics and dynamics, PCB design, scientific writing, robot simulation, mechanism design, image processing, SLAM, fuzzy logic etc. Along the way, I discovered robot mechanics and control theory which I seem to appreciate the most. This journey is far from over and right now I\'m in a place where there\'s nothing to do but discover. I\'m extremely happy in my current position at NUS. The bright future of working in a lab with a lot of resources, on control and dynamical projects which warrant the diverse skill set I possess, under unbelievably supportive supervision is the one I\'m living and I can feel my enthusiasm only growing every day.I love painting, running, history, geography, stargazing and word limits.
