Developed a dynamic web-based graphical interface using Vue.js, hosted on Vercel, to illustrate the topology optimization of nanophotonic structures. The platform visualizes animated photonic crystals for each alphabet letter and was designed to engage middle-school students as part of a collaboration between Syracuse University and the Technology Alliance of Central New York (TACNY).• Engineered the backend using AWS Lambda and API Gateway, with animation assets served from Amazon S3. Introduced a caching strategy that reduced the runtime for generating the string “technology” from approximately 34.1 seconds to 2.4 seconds—an order-of-magnitude improvement—without compromising code flexibility.• Assisted in the production of a manuscript proposing the idea of structure-adaptive topology optimization for engineering photonic band gaps with TM-polarized sources.
