About Aditi Bhattacharya
Hello there! I am Aditi Bhattacharya, a fourth year Doctoral student in Materials Science and Engineering at Carnegie Mellon University. I studied Materials Science and Engineering in my Undergrad, Masters and PhD. This has endowed me with a strong background in materials characterization, understanding structure-properties relationships, mechanical behavior of materials etc. I am fascinated by materials science, so much so that I ended up getting two Masters (one from India and one from USA!) Everything we know of is essentially made up of materials and they are a wonder in themselves. So how do we understand materials? Data! There is an explosion of Data these days. And to make sense of it and understand the story it is telling us is the ultimate art I want to master. As a doctoral student I have worked extensively with data analytics, developing algorithms to dynamically track grain growth during annealing and validated them using analytical grain coarsening theories. It is this data that helped us debunk old theories and come up with new ones as well. I have also worked on advanced statistical analysis like CCA, PCA, ML using MATLAB, R and Python. Having experienced diverse cultures in different countries in trying to find my footing, I have found strength in this quote by Bruce Lee -\"Adapt what is useful, reject what is useless, and add what is specifically your own.\" And here I am trying to achieve just that.
