ABOUT ADISHI GUPTA

I am passionate about building a more equitable world where strategic thinking, creative problem-solving, and meaningful collaboration between communities and stakeholders create lasting change.For over a decade, I have worked in the social sector across India and Canada, on issues including feminism and gender justice, sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR), psychosocial health and wellbeing, and climate justice.Throughout my academic and professional life, I have advocated for social justice, equity, and anti-racism. My work is rooted in creating impactful educational and community engagement initiatives using creative, trauma-informed, and justice-oriented approaches. I excel at making complex ideas accessible and actionable for a wide range of audiences.My Story:My journey began in 2013 as a content editor and writer in India. Two years later, I stepped into feminist activism and community organizing, which led me to become a Humanities researcher in gender studies in 2016. By 2018, my focus expanded into mental health advocacy and content creation, and in 2019, I began promoting kindness as a superpower, volunteering as a Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) facilitator for 140 students in schools across Delhi. In 2021, my life changed profoundly when I moved to Canada to train as an educator and formally study SEL. In a surprising turn of events, I also found myself in Social Sciences research. As a teaching assistant at the University of British Columbia (UBC), I taught pre-service teachers and contributed to exciting research projects as both a graduate student and a research assistant.In 2023, I entered the field of climate wellbeing and climate justice, work that felt deeply personal having experienced climate distress firsthand. By 2024, I began working as a freelance consultant in strategic planning, facilitation, and evaluation, while also creating visual art as a way to navigate the uncertainty of building a life in a new place.Today, as the Project & Engagement Specialist at Roots & Rivers Consulting, my work continues to combine creativity, strategic and critical thinking, and care to help build more equitable and connected ways of living and working together.
