About Adhirath B.
I am currently interested in studying the neurological adverse effects following chronic treatment of antidepressant medication measuring brain function and activity with Electroencephalography (EEGs). I am pursuing my Biomedical Science MS degree with the Wake Forest School of Medicine alongside working as a research intern in the Emergency Department Academic Research Sector, shadowing pediatric neurologists, neurosurgeons, and neonatologists, and executing a self-lead capstone research study. My diffusion attention activities involve practicing tabla, harmonium, and guitar, cooking, reading books before bed, and exercising at the gym. To maintain structure and order in my day, I organize my study and work around my diffusion attention activities. Finally, I learn tabla as well as teach harmonium lessons every week. My current favorite book: This is Your Brain on Music: The Science of a Human, by Daniel J. Levitin

Research Intern with the Emergency Department Academic Research Sector at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist. Currently assigned to work on two different industrial-driven clinical research studies. CITI Training Certified. Trained for both study protocols. Screen patients for each study in the Adult Emergency Department. Ensure consent forms and all other paperwork are filled out before moving forward with either research study. Assist with blood assay culturing and centrifuging; log data and record in RedCap. Monitor EMR for patient screening. Assist with neurological tests and games for patients and record data. Report final data and collect final signatures from the principal project coordinators. Working with a team of 15-20 individuals (mixed group of medical students, clinical coordinators, paramedics, advanced EMTs, PhD students, and physicians.
