SUMMARY OF A STRATEGIC HUMAN RESOURCES LEADER IN HIGHER EDUCATION As a Human Resources Leader i not only focus on the core of human resources, developing and coordinating policies and activities for employees, i am also concerned that the mission and vision of the organization is met. I have a broad range of knowledge that spans the full life cycle of an employee. Working in human resources for almost 30 years in higher education, i have a passion for helping employees achieve their goals to ensure student success. I love to see how smart recruiting, professional development and a valuable benefits and pension plan keeps the college achieving their goals. My human resources goals are always tied to the mission of the college; it is the key to assisting managers throughout the year to effectively achieve their goals and implement strategies to strengthen the college. I have successfully worked on large scales with an office as large as 18 HR professionals as well as a micro scale with an office of one, with shared services for Benefits and Payroll. The results are still the same; good business processes is the key to efficiently maintaining harmony within the college. Having an expertise in HRIS and other online tools has allowed me to cut time to hires, decrease payroll errors and increase employee satisfaction. My expertise in running reports and presenting quality data assists me in solving short and long term strategies. An effective human resources leader knows that making hard decisions is part of the job but making them with good data provides a valuable platform in presenting to your colleagues and the other parts of the college (Board members, Cabinet members, C-Suite members). The final thing i want to share about being an effective human resources leader is doing your job with empathy, kindness ad understanding. All of this while keeping your ethical position above reproach.
