About Adele Bovard
I believe… Our students are worth the very best that we have to offer. There is no more important work than the work we do in education. We touch the future every day in our schools. I believe. Leaders can be brave in the way they live and lead. Leadership work expands to include \"all\": all students, all teachers, all families. The work of each leader is to do what is required in order to connect and serve \"all\" in their school community. Well known among her colleagues across the state, Bovard is acknowledged as an innovative educator with teaching, administrative and superintendent experience in rural, urban, and suburban schools. Her experience includes Chair of the the New York State Association of Women Administrators, New York State Task Force on the School to Prison Pipeline, Co Chair of the Assessment Committee for New York State Council of School Superintendents, Co-Chair of the Rochester Monroe Anti Poverty Initiative Education Work Group, and member of the Middle Skills Task Force of the Finger Lakes Economic Council. She has also served as past president of the Monroe Council of School Superintendents and Founding Chair of the Webster Community Coalition for Economic Development. Adele\'s life work is creating educational opportunities for students that provoke agency and instill the ability to dream and create a personal path to a successful future. Her work with educational leaders is predicated on clarifying existing strength and building complimentary strategic teams to engage in systems work uniquely designed for each district.

Deputy Superintendent
Syosset Central School District
Jul 2016 — Present · Syosset, NY, US
Chief Academic Officer: Chief of StaffI am happily doing the work I love best: supervising principals, the academic program, and the personnel office in Syosset Central Schools. We are able to incubate innovative approaches to education, specifically in coding as a literacy and cross-cutting content K - 12. My work centers on collaboration. I have had the privilege to engage strategic work groups to design a standards-based elementary report card, clarify secondary guidelines for homework and assessment, and create intentional opportunities for teacher leadership K - 12.I served on a Task Force commissioned by the NY State Bar Association focused on Breaking the School To Prison Pipeline. Syosset has embraced the recommendations from the Task Force to infuse restorative practices into the culture of our school. We have done a complete rewrite of our Code of Conduct predicated on restorative practices and created plain language summaries written by students, teachers, and parents.I am honored to serve as Chair of the Board of NYSAWA, as a faculty member of the Future Superintendent’s Academy for the New York State Council of School Superintendents (NYSCOSS) and it\'s professional development foundation, the Leadership for Educational Achievement Foundation, Inc.(LEAF, Inc.), and a charter member of the NYSCOSS Women’s Initiative. I am a frequent speaker for NYSAWA and NYSCOSS and continue to mentor and “call out the best” in leaders, encourage their unique strengths and cultivate personal and professional growth.
