About Adela Effendy

I am a Licensed Master Social Worker in New York State, having led multiple pilot and well-established academic programs in the nation\'s largest secondary and public university systems in New York City, overseeing over $1.5 million in budgets, 75+ staff members and reaching students over the past 12+ years. My work has fostered my expertise in learning and development, nourishing diverse, equitable and inclusive team environments while also leading teams and programs through change management processes. I have proudly been at the forefront of capacity-building and strategic planning around navigating significant systems changes at the City University of New York\'s (CUNY) pilot program since 2014 (one of the largest public university systems in the nation) by redesigning professional development and student enrollment processes for increased stakeholder engagement. Along with my work at CUNY, I have worked with various stakeholders to design work streams around policy and practice implementation, managing multiple demands to analyze and solve complex issues within each organization. My scope of practice leading multiple pilot programs has expanded my ability to manage ambiguities in fast-paced settings, ultimately impacting communities of over students, staff and families. My passion lies in translating complex frameworks and theories of change and justice, to actionable solutions for program and organizational scale, while remaining people-centered at all times. Ultimately, my hope is to expand my reach and to continue building and enhancing more dialogical, critical and people-powered programs, conversations and communities.
