As Director of ProMare and Heritage Lead on the Maritime Library Project, I work closely with a small team to preserve and share maritime knowledge and heritage across the South West of England and beyond.ProMare is a Community Interest Company (CIC) dedicated to advancing marine research and exploration. Founded in 2001, ProMare supports and promotes projects that enhance our understanding of maritime heritage, marine archaeology, and ocean sciences. ProMare works in partnership with universities, museums, research institutions, and local communities to carry out innovative underwater projects around the world.ProMare is best known for its role in maritime archaeology, particularly in developing advanced technologies for underwater exploration, including remotely operated vehicles (ROVs) and autonomous systems. Through its projects, ProMare helps to preserve maritime cultural heritage and contributes valuable knowledge to the study of marine environments.
