I matched into this innovative fellowship to advance my goal of integrating nutrition science and obesity care into gastroenterology practice, especially for patients with MASLD, cirrhosis, and metabolic co-morbidities. Geisinger’s comprehensive program will allow me to deepen my expertise in both clinical nutrition interventions and research methodology- Will receive training in the nutritional management of GI and liver diseases, including MASLD, IBD, and malnutrition in chronic illness- Will develop advanced skills in nutritional counseling, metabolic support, and obesity pharmacotherapy including GLP-1 agonists and bariatric pathway optimization- Will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team (GI, Endocrinology, Behavioral Health, Surgery) to create individualized weight management plans- Plan to continue my current research evaluating the impact of GLP-1 agonists on liver fibrosis using FIB-4 scoring, contributing to evidence-based obesity care- Will strengthen my ability to translate research into practical care and apply QI frameworks to address disparities in access to weight and nutrition interventions.
