About M. Adelaide Sommers

Sports Communication & Media Major | General Business Minor I am a senior at Miami University actively pursuing opportunities to learn and grow in the dynamic fields of sports media, marketing, and event management. Since coming to Miami University, I have been proactive in gaining hands-on experience in the sports industry, both on and off campus. I have been interning with the Miami University Athletics Department for the men’s basketball team, where I contribute to their social media presence and event coverage. This role has allowed me to learn more about content creation, fan engagement, and live event coordination while working directly within a Division I athletics environment. My off campus experience includes interning for the U.S. House of Representatives, where I worked closely with Members of Congress and Senior Staff to manage floor operations. I had the opportunity to manage the Twitter feed for the cloakroom, updating thousands of congressional employees and external stakeholders on floor activity, including vote schedules and vote tallies. The following summer, I interned with the Independent Women’s Forum, contributing to sports marketing campaigns and gaining hands-on experience in event promotion and social media management. Most recently, I worked with the American Gaming Association (AGA), where I gained experience in the casino and sports betting industry. I contributed to event planning and marketing initiatives, including G2E (Global Gaming Expo), one of the largest gaming industry conferences. As I continue to gain experience, I am eager to explore opportunities in sports media, marketing, and event planning.
