About Addison Bussell
I am a Social Work major dedicated to advancing social justice, strengthening community supports, and empowering individuals who experience systemic barriers. Grounded in the core values of service, dignity and worth of the person, and the importance of human relationships, I aim to build a career centered on compassionate practice, community advocacy, and equitable program development.In my role as an Advocate for Community Engagement with South Central Community Action Program – Thriving Connections, I facilitate service-learning experiences that connect Indiana University students with families working toward stability. I coordinate weekly programming for youth, support over 25 student service-learners, and lead reflective discussions that deepen empathy, cultural awareness, and understanding of community needs. This work has strengthened my skills in relationship-building, strengths-based engagement, and trauma-informed communication.Previously, as an Office Intern with the Noblesville Housing Authority, I supported housing access by redesigning intake tools, improving file organization systems, and helping create a more welcoming and efficient process for community members. I also assisted in coordinating a landlord symposium focused on housing stability—an experience that expanded my understanding of policy, systems navigation, and collaborative problem-solving.I am motivated by a commitment to equity, person-centered support, and community transformation. As I continue my education in Social Work, I am eager to grow as a practitioner who listens deeply, collaborates thoughtfully, and works alongside communities to create lasting change for individuals and communities.
