I have statutory responsibilities for the education and wellbeing of around children and young people in Calderdale where we have been rated \'good\' in all areas in a recent ILACs Ofsted inspection.Our vision is that all of our children and young people are happy, healthy, safe and successful. Our wish is that they are able to live a larger life and achieve their potential whatever their background. We believe strongly in placing the voice of the child at the centre of all of our decision making.As Cabinet Member I Chair Calderdale\'s Corporate Parenting Partnership Board and our Governors Appointments Committee, as well as sitting on Calderdale\'s Health and Wellbeing Board.

I’m a public affairs professional passionate about shaping policy, building consensus, and delivering tangible outcomes for communities.In my current role at LINK Scheme Ltd, I work with parliamentarians and government officials to ensure communities retain access to cash - efforts that have influenced new legislation and demonstrated the impact of clear, constructive advocacy.I also serve as Cabinet Member for Children and Young People’s Services at Calderdale Council, where I’ve been a councillor for 14 years. Highlights include:• Securing £100m+ for rebuilding local schools and £20m+ for a new SEND free school• Preventing the closure of a local A&E through cross-community advocacy• Leading the council through successful Ofsted inspections and improvements for children in carePreviously, I worked in Parliament as Office Manager to Holly Lynch MP and as a Regional Organiser for the Labour Party, delivering campaigns in challenging constituencies.I bring together political insight, stakeholder engagement, and leadership experience, and I’m motivated by opportunities to make a real difference for people and communities.
