About Adam Swanson

I am a painter and muralist fascinated by the way science fiction suggests a future for humanity transformed by environmental changes and technological innovations. My invented landscapes ask viewers to consider unfamiliar places, such as the lines between true false, fiction and documentation, natural growth and urban development. I love color and texture. I paint wild animals, bright landscapes, and research equipment to create humorous tensions between humans and the rest of the natural world.My goal to express myself in an engaging and thoughtful way. Though it is much more than this to me, I treat my painting practice like a job. I work full weeks and occasional weekends. I use my art to talk about environmental issues that I care about; issues that make me sad or angry. I make art to express the sense of beauty, wonder, and mystery I often feel. I tell stories with my art. I use painting as a tool to unwind, have fun, and experiment.    Oct 2017 — Present · Cloquet, MN, US

   I received my Firefighter 1 and 2 through Lake Superior College and am a certified Emergency Medical Technician. I attend regular trainings at our local stations and respond as I am able to medical emergencies and fires.
