About Adam Piron

Adam Piron is the Director of Sundance Institute\'s Indigenous Program where he oversees the organization\'s investment in Indigenous filmmakers globally.He was previously the Film Curator at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA). He produced retrospectives on the films of Sky Hopinka, Adam Khalil, Caroline Monnet, Fox Maxy as well as the five-month screening series Hollywood In Limbo: 19••••72; a program examining genres of American studio films in the cultural shifts between the end of the Hays Code and the rise of the New Hollywood era. Piron is a member of the Sundance Film Festival’s Short Film Programming Team and has also been a Programmer for AFI DOCS, AFI FEST, the imagineNative Film and Media Arts Festival, as well as the LA Film Festival. He has served on juries and panels for the Toronto International Film Festival, Kortfilmfestivalen, True/False Film Festival and the Palm Springs Film Festival. He has also been on advisory panels for the Herb Alpert Award in the Arts, The Jerome Foundation, Creative Capital and the Rolex Mentor and Protégé Arts Initiative.He is also a filmmaker and co-founder of COUSIN: a film collective dedicated to supporting Indigenous artists experimenting with and pushing the boundaries of the moving image. Piron is also on the Editorial Advisory Board of Seen, a journal produced by BlackStar examining the visual culture of communities of color, featuring interviews, reviews, and essays about Black, Brown, and Indigenous visual culture. He concurrently serves on the Board of Trustees and Programming Committee of the Robert Flaherty Film Seminar, an organization devoted to building community around the moving image and the longest continuously running annual film event in North America devoted to creative non-fiction.
