About Adam Finkelstein M. D.

I graduated from Lafayette College with a B.S. in biology, received my medical degree medical at the Penn State College of Medicine, and am an incoming general surgery resident at VCU. On school breaks from college I was a research student at Boston Children\'s Hospital in the general surgery and vascular biology departments. Responsibilities included dissections, suturing, basic lab techniques, and attending weekly academic lectures.Also, I enjoy working with kids and have created and led multiple programs for them. In medical school I am creating a program where medical students will mentor young patients through health challenges that they have in common. Also, recently I created and published a children’s picture book about my experiences growing up with ulcerative colitis to offer a relatable role model for young patients. During my time at college I started a weekly after-school program that taught leadership skills to elementary school students as well as a weekly after-school programs to encourage middle schoolers\' interest in the academic and extra-curricular aspects of college. My favorite books are \"Purple Cow\" about creative ideas in entrepreneurship,\"King of Hearts\" about a pioneer of open heart surgery, and \"Complications\" about the uncertainty of medicine. In my free time I like to play basketball and explore around different cities or parks.
