ABOUT ADAM FARQUHAR
Dr. Adam Farquhar is an experienced leader who has focused on making digital transformations in library, research, and information sectors. Today, he is CEO of Digital Lifecycle Management - focused on advanced technology for archives, libraries, and cultural heritage.He established and led Digital Scholarship initiatives at the British Library, where he and his team focused on enabling and creating services for researchers that take full advantage of the possibilities that digital collections and data present across all formats and subjects. Previously, he established and led the Library’s Digital Preservation and Research Data strategy, programme, and initiatives.He has been responsible for major national collections including the British Library’s maps, newspaper, photographic, philatelic, audio and moving image collections. He led or worked to establish over £35m in major funded collaborative research initiatives. He has actively contributed to the broader community establishing and serving as founding president for DataCite, an international association dedicated to making it easier to identify, cite, and reuse scientific data, and the Open Preservation Foundation, that sustains technology and knowledge for the long-term management of digital cultural heritage. He regularly serves on organisation Boards and advisory groups including the International Image Interoperability Framework Consortium.Previously, he was the principle knowledge management architect for Schlumberger and research scientist at the Stanford University Knowledge Systems Laboratory. His PhD is in AI and Computer Sciences from the UT, Austin.
