ABOUT ADAM CATHRO

I am a degree-qualified journalist and communications professional with more than 20 years’ experience, and with demonstrated and diverse skills gained in an international media and communications career. After starting my career as a journalist in Sydney, much of my recent experience has been in senior media and communications roles with major global organisations. I have worked in Europe, Hong Kong, the US and Australia. I am currently a Communications Specialist with the United Nations Children\'s Fund (UNICEF). Previously, I was the acting Head of Media and Advocacy at the UN Development Programme (UNDP), the UN\'s global development network. I have also worked as the Media Relations Manager at Plan International in Australia, one of the oldest and largest child rights and development organisations in the world, with which I was deployed to help lead communications on the ground in the Philippines in the wake of Typhoon Haiyan and to Nepal after the earthquake of April 2015. I have also enjoyed a long career as a journalist in news and current affairs, including senior editorial positions with the Herald Sun and AAP in Australia and with The Times, The Sunday Times, The Telegraph, The Sunday Telegraph, AFX, AOL, TheStreet and UPI in the UK, the US and Hong Kong. I have a track record of completing complex projects within tight deadlines, satisfying a wide range of stakeholders with outstanding results. My experience in journalism has given me strong analytical skills and an ability to communicate complex information in a compelling fashion for varied audiences, and extensive writing and editing skills.
