ABOUT ADAM ZIMMERMAN
I have more than 20 years of media relations and public policy experience. For nearly 12 years, I worked at Burness Communications, beginning as an associate and working my way up to vice president. During the Covid-19 pandemic, I have spearheaded media relations for top leaders at the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF), including president and CEO Dr. Richard Besser, the former acting director of the CDC; and then-executive vice president Dr. Julie Morita, a member of the Biden Covid-19 Transition Advisory Board. In that time, I secured hundreds of interviews and appearances with top national broadcast, streaming, and print outlets, along with numerous op-ed and statement placements. I continue to play a lead role on communications and policy initiatives as a consultant for such organizations as RWJF, the American Heart Association, the Big Cities Health Coalition, the National WIC Association, and the Alliance to End Hunger. Previously, I worked as a campaign staffer and legislative aide for Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY), and also served as a lobbyist for NARAL Pro-Choice America and the American Association of University Women. I live in Rockville, Maryland, where my wife Julia and I are raising our wonderful children, Ella and Aiden. I have put my professional skills toward making my community a safer and healthier place. I have successfully secured passage of landmark smoke-free air laws in the city of Rockville and Montgomery County, along with legislation limiting the sale of e-cigarettes to children. Op-eds and letters to the editor I have authored have been published by the New York Times, Washington Post, Baltimore Sun, The Hill, and the New York Daily News. In my spare time, I coach my children\'s soccer teams. I\'m also deeply proud of my family heritage. As the the grandson of Holocaust survivors, I teach a seventh grade class on the Holocaust at Temple Beth Ami in Rockville, and I have been a featured speaker at local and regional Holocaust remembrance ceremonies.
