ABOUT ADAM WILKINS
I have been very fortunate to have spent the majority of my career with Sazerac, an iconic, global spirits supplier. I have been challenged to build brands and businesses by expanding into new categories, customer channels, and markets. I’ve had to create and develop teams from scratch and I’ve been lucky. Thankfully, I’ve had a lot more wins than losses. In the process, I’ve worked with a lot of great people. Along the way, I’ve worked hard and had a lot of fun. I believe that the foundation of my career centers on continuous growth through learning and seeking new challenges. These are traits that I consciously try to instill in my team and the associates that I mentor. My Key Strengths: STRATEGIC BUSINESS PLANNING – I am able to take broad, long-term, corporate-level strategic plans and translate them into customized category and brand specific strategies and plans. This requires analytical skills to uncover and define opportunities, establish objectives and then, effectively lead teams in implementing the strategies. BUILDING BRANDS – I’ve gained significant experience with not only developing individual brands but also growing entire portfolios of brands. This required establishing a disciplined approach to understanding brand positioning from both the consumer and retailer perspectives. Then, I had to identify the opportunities present for refining the positioning and growing the brand franchise. These strategic decisions had to be made within the context of how individual brands contribute to the performance of the larger portfolio of brands. Once these strategic parameters have been determined, I’ve successfully built and executed plans and campaigns that achieved the objectives. TEAM AND TASK FORCE LEADERSHIP – A critical challenge that all marketers face is gaining the understanding, focus, and support of the entire organization in achieving the marketing vision for the company. I’ve learned that this frequently requires cross-functional project management on an enterprise-wide basis. As a Marketing leader, I have to understand how all critical department’s work, how they are evaluated, and how they prioritize their efforts. Effective project planning takes all of these into account and the whole process is driven by communications and accountability. While at Sazerac, I’ve been given the freedom and resources to experiment, learn, and grow. Not all of my initiatives have been successful, but thankfully, my batting average is high. Let’s connect.
