About Adam Waks

I am a recent Wheaton College (MA) graduate (biology major, psychology minor), preparing for my doctorate in physical therapy. In my years at Wheaton, I spent countless hours learning proper lab protocols and techniques in my biology, chemistry, and physics classes. This helped me in conducting my own research for my senior thesis: A Review of the Cellular Processes and Apoptosis of the Brain due to mTBI. In high school I was a four-year all-state varsity athlete on the outdoor track team and an E. Mass all-star on the varsity soccer team. I played on the varsity soccer team at Wheaton for my four years there and enjoyed being a part of such a competitive NCAA team. Being slight of build and aggressive on the pitch has its advantages for speed, but comes with obvious disadvantages. You name it, I\'ve broken it or sprained it. No not the vase on the corner table that I accidentally hit with a soccer ball while getting my touches in (although a few times…). From fractured vertebrae to concussions, torn hamstrings to facial reconstruction, I have a lot of physical therapy experience as a patient! My instincts and empathy are strong; whenever a teammate goes down with an injury, I am eager to assist and diagnose. I have coached soccer for children and teens of all ages and enjoy educating them in their pursuit to become better athletes, as well as aid in the treatment of their injuries. Personal experience and this desire to educate and help young athletes has led me to study physical therapy and the impact of concussions. It is with this interest that I am looking to immerse myself into the allied health fields and whatever job opportunities help me to accomplish this goal.
