Adam Steffen has 25+ years of experience in health care finance and operations, including compliance audits, provider education, provider network participation, value-based arrangements, customer service, and membership applications for Medicare, Medicaid, and the Nebraska high-risk pool.Mr. Steffen is now the Director of Provider Contracting and Market Engagement for Medica Health Plans in Omaha. He leads a team responsible for maintaining network adequacy and value-based contract implementation for their commercial, IFB, and Medicare products in Nebraska and surrounding states.Mr. Steffen came to Medica after being the Provider Network Administrator at Nebraska Health Network (NHN). He was responsible for all aspects of the provider network for the Midwest Network Alliance, a spin-off designed to provide health benefits to the member hospitals\' employees and self-funded employer groups.Prior to joining NHN, he spent five years working in the Government Consulting department at Bland & Associates, P.C.(Bland), assisting on contracts with the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). He worked extensively on the Comprehensive Primary Care Plus (CPC+) contract in which Bland is responsible for conducting compliance audits on physician practices that participate in the CPC+ program. Mr. Steffen led a team of auditors conducting compliance reviews on practices’ care delivery processes and managed the quality audits. Prior to joining Bland, Mr. Steffen was the Director of Provider Network Management and Community Relations for AmeriHealth Caritas Nebraska where he was responsible for recruiting health care providers to join the company’s managed care network and maintaining those relationships. He established incentive programs for health care professionals and facilities who provided high quality results. He also coordinated community outreach activities to spread the word about the AmeriHealth Nebraska mission to potential members.Mr. Steffen also spent 13 years at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Nebraska in multiple roles, including Manager of the Nebraska Comprehensive Health Insurance Pool and as a Senior Field Auditor in the Medicare Audit Department.
