ABOUT ADAM SHUMAKE

Adam Shumake is an accomplished global operations leader with over 20 years of automotive industry experience across international logistics, manufacturing engineering, global purchasing, and strategic product planning. He is passionate about solving complex business problems and empowers high-trust teams with an enjoyable camaraderie. Adam embraces continuous learning and innovation, never shying away from a challenging topic. In every role, Adam spends time assessing internal and external resources, in light of desired outcomes, to work collaboratively to find effective solutions. Adam takes a data-driven approach to decision making, deploying statistical process control principles for robust outcomes while recognizing the usefulness of simplifying assumptions for prescribing business responses. Adam has the strong ethics and communication skills required to interact with senior leadership and stakeholders, and ensures adherence and alignment with department objectives, company standards and strategies, and regulations.As Sr Manager of Nissan North America’s SCM Compliance department, he advocates for human rights standards within the global supply chain internally & externally. Adam leads NNA’s systems development, the integration of new tools into existing business platforms, and the organization of data in support of supply chain and sourcing compliance. This coordination increases visibility to supply chain entities, including suppliers, sub-suppliers, additional factories, and raw material sources. He has the privilege to directly lead a talented team of experts from the fields of compliance and data science in the development of these robust solutions. Together, they work cross functionally with engineering, purchasing, external affairs, product development, sustainability, & customs and trade. As the leader of SCM Compliance, Adam facilitates the integration of these diverse business needs so that NNA may navigate the complex existing and emerging regulations, vendor technologies, and industry methodologies for state of the art human rights due diligence. Adam is pleased that the team is able to continuously improve and deploy practical & effective procedures to simultaneously promote responsible sourcing and stand up for some of the world’s most vulnerable populations.
