ABOUT ADAM SCHEER

Over my career I have succeeded in high level leadership and individual contributor positions across academia, national laboratories, utilities, and the private sector. My roles have spanned several disciplines, including data science and analytics, business development, policy, and client-facing. The knowledge I’ve gained working in these areas enables me to quickly see the big picture and to connect business and client needs to technical solutions. In 2021 I established Recurve’s Applied Data Science team, a group devoted to the development of new analytical capabilities and products that leverage smart meter energy data. Since then, the group has grown to 20 data scientists, engineers, and analysts who work collaboratively across methods research, software development, and client delivery. Together we have helped modernize the measurement of demand side energy programs through open source initiatives and we have enabled programs that are optimized for both customers and the electric grid by integrating a variety of behind-the-meter resources. My career began in fundamental scientific research. After a PhD and postdoctoral fellowship in Physics, I then spent five years at PG & E, helping the enterprise utilize smart meter data analysis for the planning and measurement of its energy efficiency portfolio. I then joined Recurve, where I have helped grow the company from a 15-person startup to a 70-person team with wide industry reach. Throughout, I have been passionate about fighting climate change by connecting data, statistics, and analytics to policy and business decisions.
