Develops and runs a variety of year round recreational and social programs which include the areas of sports and fitness, social/leisure, outings/travel and special events.2. Develops and/or facilitates access to recreational, fitness and leisure activities contributing to the enjoyment and well-being of people with disabilities living in the community3. Works in collaboration with existing community resources such as: YMCA’s, athletic clubs, school systems, churches/temples, city recreation departments and colleges, etc.to develop inclusive opportunities for all.4. Develops specialized summer and vacation programs according to needs expressed by families and individuals.5. Operates and organizes skill development programs in conjunction with ongoing Special Olympic programs at the area, sectional and state levels. Plans and chaperones Olympic events as needed.6. Maintains and reports United Way statistics.7. Completes monthly newsletter information, calendar and special event flyers as needed.8. Participates in speaking engagements to help enhance the program in a variety of ways (financial, staffing and public education).9. Implements and staffs programs as needed.10. Screens, interviews and hires staff for recreational activities.11. Trains and supervises all recreational staff. Provides resources, available for training in safety and recreation related workshops. Networks community resources for location of programs.12. Oversees and properly maintains documentation including registration and fees, fact sheets, contacts, incident reports and monthly program reports. Develops and monitors budget, expenditures, and makes changes when appropriate,13. Formalizes policy and procedures for Recreation Program, and reports safety concerns to Family Support Safety Committee representative.14. Attends meetings and trainings, conferences, and seminars.15. Participates in Northeast Arc committees or training groups.
