About Adam Cummings

I spent the first years of my professional career working in the lab, first putting paint together, then taking paint apart. I loved it but a serendipitous event led me to this role and I could not be more excited! I was already gearing up for the transition from the technical side to the business side, obtaining my MBA, so it was actually incredible timing. I am glad that I’m still very close to the technical side and the innovation process within BASF, but now I get to use all of the very expensive MBA skills I\'ve learned!I get to work closely with our leadership team, so I’m afforded an opportunity to learn from truly talented and experienced people. I’m also interacting regularly with controlling and am responsible for setting and measuring some of our KPIs. It’s been fun and very challenging getting up to speed with all of my new responsibilities and adapting to this new side of the company! I always tell myself, if I can make it through Physical Chemistry 1 and 2 then I can make it through anything! When I’m not working, I’m doing projects around the house, which mostly revolve around my daughter. I’m learning that I love to cook and experiment in the kitchen, possibly more than in the lab. And I love reading! Anything from science fiction to biographies to books for self development. Specialties:Examining problems from different perspectives and thinking critically about their solutions.Project management and innovation processes.Statistical analysis and design of experiments utilizing various software.Laboratory product testing and data analysis.
