I focus on UK and European patent and design law. In addition to the chemical and biotech fields, where my academic background lies, I work on mechanical, medical device, and cleantech matters. I regularly conduct IP Audits and help clients to develop commercially-focused IP strategies. The core of my work is drafting patent applications and prosecuting them before the UKIPO and EPO, as well as in overseas jurisdictions (via foreign attorneys). Other areas include pre-filing patentability searching, infringement and validity opinions, and infringement risk (freedom to operate) exercises. Regarding design law, I engage with product designers to prepare effective representations (i.e. illustrations) for forming registered design applications and manage the application process.
