My role in the company requires me to keep a lot of plates spinning at the same time. As Auctioneer and Valuer I run my own department, specialising in Vinyl Records and Music Memorabilia. This role requires me to travel all over the country to view collections people wish to sell, and I can proudly say that during my time doing this I have only ever lost one significant collection to another auction house. I personally created the department in 2020 and have nurtured it from nothing into a six-figure turnover in 4 years, where we are now recognised as one of the leading vinyl record auctioneers in the UK. This role requires the following skills: research, cataloguing, negotiation, nurturing and maintaining client relationships (both buyers and sellers), creative photography, passion and enthusiasm whilst selling to thousands of people, effective time-management to hit deadlines, and marketing skills, both graphic design and writing abilities. The other half of my role in the company is as In-House Photographer within the business, photographing all other types of items for sale, including: Jewellery, Watches, Fine Art, Sculptures, Furniture, Musical Instruments, Books, Cars, Clothing, and any other items consigned. Whilst this is mainly studio-based product photography, this does also include photography on location requiring a strong knowledge of the camera to make sure the images are suitable for use in all cataloguing and marketing situations, from antiques in dimply lit country houses to fashion models wearing our fine jewellery. Highlights for me include being involved with the sale of a £1-million Banksy, the sale of a signed Beatles LP, single-handedly sorting, cataloguing and selling a private collection of over records from a private collector, realising almost and being able to sit and strum Marc Bolan\'s 1920\'s Gibson Guitar.
