About Achieng Kuir
Hi, I’m Achieng Kuir, an Economics major at Whitman College with minors in Finance and Data Science. I’m interested in finance, investing, and data analysis, especially how data can be used to evaluate opportunities and make better decisions.I’ve built hands-on experience in financial modeling, valuation, and data analysis through both coursework and projects. Recently, I built a 15-year pro forma model to evaluate a hotel acquisition, ran IRR and MOIC sensitivity analysis, and presented an investment recommendation based on return thresholdsI’ve also worked on equity research and venture analysis, using financial statements and 10-K filings to assess company performance, and building valuation models (DCF, comparables) to support investment decisions.At Whitman’s Accounting & Business Services, I analyze financial data across departments, including identifying cost-saving opportunities across 200+ vendors using Excel and data visualization tools.On campus, I’m a member of the Whitman Investment Company, where I conduct equity research and contribute to investment pitches for a student-managed endowment fund. I’m also part of the Finance Accelerator Program, where I build technical skills in valuation and financial modeling, and I am an active member of the Economics Club.Outside of school, I’m the co-founder of Project 21 Kenya, where I lead financial planning and sustainability efforts for initiatives supporting women and refugee communities.I’m currently seeking a Summer 2026 internship in investment banking or finance.
