About Achevi Kuri
Becoming an electrical engineer was not immediate. I grew up always loving mathematics in school. In fact, I loved it so much that I began my college career pursuing a degree in physics. After my 3rd year in college, I realized that I needed to venture in a different direction with my education. I narrowed my decision to two final options management information systems or electrical engineering. Desiring a hands-on career, I made the decision to pursue electrical engineering.Studying engineering came with many exciting skills to learn! I learned AutoCad, creating exciting virtual, 3-dimensional models. I also learned Matlab, which opened to up to finding solutions to various types of problems through computational software. A course in micro controllers had a really strong impact on me, as I learned the binary numerical system and assembly language—the basics in computer programming.Upon receiving my undergraduate degree, I worked in the civil engineering field inspecting storm drainage structures. I organized all of my inspection notes on a Microsoft Excel file weekly, while simultaneously pursuing a master’s degree in electrical engineering. While pursuing graduate studies, I researched wireless technologies between vehicles for one project, and then used electromagnetics to count white blood cells for another project! I finally entered the engineering industry as a power pole inspector. In that role, I traveled to multiple states, inspecting power lines to ensure compliance with the NESC on pole structures.I hope to be part creating more green energy, specifically in the field of solar engineering. I also have a desire to be in the electronics industry, creating products that consumers cannot live without (like smartphones)!
