JOB MISSION:As a Product Developer on the Domestic Development team, I work daily with a cross-functional project team on development tasks and monitor associated deadlines for various Made In the USA footwear initiatives. I am responsible for maintaining open lines of communication with product engineering, engineering services, purchasing, planning, marketing, design, manufacturing, and development center. I generate spec sheets and tech packages that drive the creation of prototypes. In this position, I am continuously gaining an understanding of shoe construction, terminology, technical drawings, and manufacturing processes. I work directly with domestic and international suppliers to select, order, and track materials needed for prototyping and manufacturing trials. I evaluate prototypes and extreme samples for accuracy and quality standards. I develop an understanding of margins, FOB (free on board), and costing factors to help drive the business.MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES:• General Understanding of shoe construction, raw materials, and design for manufacturing concepts.• Accurate and on-time Spec writing.• Creating quality standards and signing go-by samples for manufacturing reference.• Review of tech drawings.• Timely and accurate creation of Tooling Requests, Work Travelers & Cost requests to direct Prototype builds• Distribution of prototypes and samples to appropriate parties/recipients and maintenance of Product display walls.• Travel to domestic raw material suppliers and New Balance MADE Manufacturing sites as needed.
