ABOUT ABIGAIL THRESS
I am a fifth-year Biology major and Marketing minor studying at Northeastern University. Biology is such a broad topic and I am excited to discover what direction it can lead me for a future career. I recently had the amazing opportunity to learn more about the Pharmaceutical industry through a seven-month co-op at Takeda Pharmaceuticals that I completed in December 2023. During my time there, I primarily focused on cell-based assays to investigate the in vitro activity and efficacy of in-house therapeutics in a high-throughput manner. I conducted multiple assays including binding, activation, and cytotoxicity assays to further the understanding of an antibody-based therapeutic in the drug discovery process. At the end of my co-op, I had the opportunity to present my research at a department-wide co-op poster presentation in addition to an oral PowerPoint presentation to showcase my work and what I had accomplished while at Takeda. I am now completing my final semester at Northeastern University to finish my undergraduate degree by December 2024.
