About Abigail Smolek

I’m no English major, but if I were to use a fancy word to describe myself, it would be a “multipotentialite”: someone who loves to learn, has a hodgepodge of interests and the potential to be successful in many different roles. Although I have a diverse assortment of interests in academic fields such as athletics, biology, writing, and reading, my past experiences and passions landed me studying business and leadership at Hope College. As a woman with a strong Christian faith, I seek to exemplify servant leadership and above all, love others. This passion guided me to one of my first larger leadership roles, president of Fellowship of Christian Athletes at St. Charles East High School. This quickly highlighted some other strengths of mine, including public communication. Success in this first larger leadership position was emboldening, and I’ve since sought after opportunities to challenge myself, build up new skill sets, and improve strengths. This has led me to the roles of Chaplain, Vice President, and now President of my sorority, to being a team lead consultant for Center For Leadership at Hope. There is indeed a real gal behind this profile. If you caught me after hours I might be: reading, cooking, playing piano, skiing, or enjoying the Michigan beaches, sunsets, and seasons. I’m always looking for new, challenging opportunities to say “yes” to. Would love to connect!
