This summer, I am investigating the impact of pre-conceptional paternal stress on placental development in mice and whether this contributes to neuroblastoma risk. Impaired placentation may lead to fetal hypoxia, which is hypothesized to disrupt the development of the precursor sympathetic neurons implicated in this pediatric tumor.
