ABOUT ABIGAIL JENKINS
As a History and Philosophy student at Carleton University, I work closely with complicated concepts, which has aided me in building strong analytical abilities and honing my ability to articulate nuanced arguments effectively and persuasively. These qualities serve as the foundation for my approach to teaching and influence my desire to attend Teachers College, where I ultimately hope to develop students\' curiosity, independent thinking, and meaningful participation. I currently serve as a Non-Certified Teacher with the Ottawa Catholic School Board, where I have demonstrated consistent excellence in classroom management and instructional adaptability. I implement lesson plans left by other teachers, maintain structured and respectful learning environments, and respond effectively to a wide array of classroom dynamics. These experiences have strengthened my capacity to facilitate meaningful learning experiences and support the development of students. In addition, I have volunteered as a Teaching Assistant, supporting educators with lesson delivery, providing individualized student guidance, and contributing to inclusive and collaborative classroom environments. In order to guarantee that every student has fair access to learning opportunities, I was specifically working with children who had a variety of learning needs, particularly students with learning disabilities and other specialized education requirements. I did this by modifying lessons and support techniques. These roles have reinforced my organizational skills, professional demeanor, and commitment to fostering student engagement and academic growth. Beyond education, I bring over two years of customer service and leadership experience as a Cashier at Foodland, where I trained new employees and consistently represented the organization with professionalism and integrity. This experience enhanced my interpersonal skills, leadership abilities, and capacity to navigate dynamic and people-focused environments. I am a reflective, adaptable, and intellectually engaged individual with demonstrated strengths in classroom management, lesson implementation, communication, and leadership. I am committed to continuous academic development and practical experience as I pursue Teachers College and a career in education.
