Having worked in the hotel spa industry for a number of years, both in-house and with my own PR and marketing agency, I knew that spas were not being promoted in a dynamic way that really showcased everything they had to offer. In 2008, this idea came to fruition in the form of Spabreaks.com, a spa booking agency, which began as a newcomer to the market and is now the leader in its field. Now working with more than 900 spa destinations around the world, Spabreaks.com helps more than people to find the right spa experience every week. We also have a team of more than 90 members of staff at our UK-based offices. Key to our work has also been striving to make the spa industry more accessible. That means everything from a variety of price points, geographical spread, experience options and ease of booking to driving change within the industry when it comes to barriers such as providing treatments to anyone with a serious health condition, like cancer, who may have previously been marginalised due to limited and outdated protocols and a lack of information. Also central to our commercial integrity is everything that goes on behind the scenes. In particular, the very personal working relationships we develop with each spa. We have a phenomenally talented team with more than 30 years’ collective experience, who really look at what each destination has to offer. We then work with them to market those unique qualities in a manner that’s easily digestible for consumers. An intrinsic part of that personal approach is being sympathetic to the perspective of each individual spa and their own brand values, as well as understanding customer demand and how that interplays with spa offerings.
