ABOUT ABHISHEK SAXENA

I am a Fellow (Doctorate) in Management specialising in Rural Management from the Institute of Rural Management Anand (IRMA). My research over the last 6 years has focused on stakeholder management and governance in member owned enterprises such as FPOs. It also gave me the opportunity to understand strategic and operational decision making in enterprises owned by community and made me interested in social entrepreneurship and dual purpose organisations.I am currently working with Revitalising Rainfed Agriculture Network (RRAN) as a Senior Project Officer involved in research, knowledge management and stakeholder engagement. I currently lead the RRA Cell at the National Rainfed Area Authority, Min. of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, Govt. of India. The cell explores areas of mutual interest to the government and civil society in the domain of rainfed agriculture and climate resilient farming. Before this, I was also working in the Small Farm Incomes project at IRMA, in both research and management capacities. The project involved working with civil society and youths to create learning alliances and capacity enhancement networks in the field of management of sustainability transitions and producer collectives in agriculture. The project helped me explore themes such as just transitions, social entrepreneurship, gender in entrepreneurship, farmer-led knowledge and innovation, capacity building, systemic change etc.I have had major shifts in my domains and subjects while studying and working and they have enhanced my skill set and expanded my capabilities and understanding across various domains. Prior to joining IRMA in 2018, I was working with a leading environmental engineering firm in India. I am a trained biotechnologist and have research experience in molecular microbiology and plant biotechnology too. My post graduation was in Plant Biotechnology.
